Hello dear friends, family, and colleagues.

On February 8th, 2026 our lives changed forever, my beautiful mother Barb was diagnosed with a brain tumour, nothing prepares you for those words and our world began to fall apart. Just 5 days later Barb underwent 7 hours of life saving brain surgery to try and remove as much as was safely possible. Unfortunately due to the size of the tumour, the surgeons were not able to remove the tumor completely. Then came the gut wrenching news that the tumor was Stage 4 Glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer with no known cure. The tumour is also unmethylated which means it won't respond to the only chemotherapy currently available for this type of cancer.

As Mom is set to start daily radiotherapy, I never thought we'd be here, never imagined a day when I would need such help, but here we are. The priceless kindness of friends and family helping with meals, lifts, running errands, shoulders to cry on, checking in, closeness and also sometimes needed space.

There really are no words to express our gratitude.

It hasn’t been easy, I won’t lie, the overnight stays in hospital, urgent extra scans, side effects, difficulty walking, sleepless nights and utter despair.

But together we have just kept going, hopeful, optimistic, determined and commmited to do whatever is necessary to support Mom's healing. We have been given a small lifeline of hope and want mom to not struggle over the next couple of months.

Mom is the strongest most incredible person I know. She is showing such courage and determination, and is improving everyday post surgery. I cannot picture anyone more kind, caring or loving.

Any support you can offer will open doors to life-extending options here in Canada and possibly abroad. And buy us more time.

We know it’s hard for everyone at the moment. Believe us when we say that we’re only asking for this help from anyone in a position to do so. We know that isn’t everyone and no matter how close you are to us we will not feel offended if this isn’t the help you can offer.
