Help Barbara & Duke Connor Rebuild Their Home
Donation protected
On the morning of December 31, 2021, Barbara & Duke Connor lost their beautiful family home in the NY Adirondacks region to a devastating fire. With just seconds to spare, they barely escaped the log house with only the clothes on their backs, their beloved dogs Ryder & Brie, and their truck. While they are safe, they have nothing left from their 55+ years of married life together. Duke designed and oversaw the construction of their home 20 years ago. Barbara completed it with love, beauty, and family artifacts from generations of ancestors who settled in the Schroon Lake area over the past 200 years. It is very difficult to see a lifetime of family memories and photos, Duke's stunning original oil paintings which adorned the walls, all their belongings, and even their car reduced to a contorted heap of ash and logs.
Duke and Barbara are very fortunate to have an extraordinary community of support and love. Please help us start their rebuilding process by donating anything you can give.
This fundraiser was started by their adult children: Maura Murcar, Margaret Foulds, and Mike Connor. While the home was insured, there is a $200,000 gap between the insurance payout and the actual cost to rebuild the house today. These funds will be used by Duke and Barbara to try to bridge that gap and also pay for items lost, including clothing, personal items, as well as anything they need to rebuild their home.
