Help Barb with Medical Expenses

Barb is an amazing, caring and compassionate person. She is the primary caretaker and teacher to her two young boys and is a pediatric Occupational Therapist. She has an active zest for life and is very health oriented.

This past summer, Barb’s whole world was shaken. At only 38 years young, she was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of breast cancer there is. Her doctors recommended a year-long, intense treatment protocol of chemotherapy, surgery, hormone therapy, and radiation to match the aggressiveness of the cancer and give her the best possible prognosis.

August was a month of undergoing intrusive testing, collaborating with her providers, diligently researching, and planning in all areas of life. Due to the intensive nature of treatment, Barb had to make the difficult decision to quit her job. While this is a financial burden, it is affording her the flexibility to focus on her cancer treatment and care, while continuing to be present as both a mother and teacher for her children.

In September, Barb bravely began the intensive cancer treatment journey with a determined, optimistic attitude. In addition to completing the conventional cancer treatment, Barb has a naturopathic oncology team that helps to naturally and holistically support her body and preserve her immune system as she goes through treatment. While the first few treatments into her journey have been effective, Barb has also experienced the painful and uncomfortable side effects of these conventional medicines. The holistic interventions through her naturopath have helped her body recuperate physically, mentally, and emotionally so she can have the stamina to continue treatment and be present with her family. Additionally, these holistic interventions have also helped to more quickly shrink the cancer and have helped Barb keep her hope for the future intact.

The intention of this fundraiser is to come together to support Barb with monetary resources that she can utilize for life’s necessities, as well as help her pay for medical bills and continue to access the holistic treatments as the year progresses.
