Hello, my name is Bailey and I'm Baraka's partner. It is with a heavy heart I share that May 14th around 1:30pm Baraka was detained by ICE. We were heading out of his apartment to get groceries when two unmarked cars swarmed my car and blocked us in and took Baraka.

Navigating this situation has already been confusing, traumatic, and stressful. Baraka has been moved from Portland to Tacoma, and is still in the process of waiting to talk with a lawyer and speak with a judge. While we wait to get more information, I'll be taking on the responsibility of taking care of Baraka's cat Nusu and taking care of his apartment and bills, on top of my own. I'll also be helping him stay connected and updating him on all progress made outside, making regular visits to go see him and helping others visit him, and coordinating any and all resources.

Baraka has given so much to his community in music, art, and caring for animals of all kinds. He loves you all so much and is so loved and now he needs support to help make end this as soon as possible. We are raising money to help cover legal fees, travel to and from the detention center, money for commissary (which is his main way to communicate and feed himself), and to cover all his bills and animal care costs. Also any other costs that arise while we wait for him to be released.

Our goal is to get Baraka the best help available, and to keep him as comfortable as possible, and get him released and back home.
