Banjo is my 12-year-old Jack Russell Chihuahua mix, and he’s been my loyal companion since he was just eight weeks old. He’s always been full of energy, loving the outdoors and playing hard, even as he’s gotten older. Recently, Banjo was attacked by a much larger dog. The injuries were severe—he arrived at JCAH, where they’ve known him his whole life, in shock and needing immediate help. They quickly sent us to Crown Vet Services, where Banjo underwent emergency surgery for a broken sternum, three broken ribs, and a punctured abdomen. He’s now in the ICU, stable but still in critical condition, fighting to recover.

Banjo’s journey hasn’t been easy. On top of his injuries, he’s a newly diagnosed diabetic and has a heart murmur, making his recovery even more challenging. I used Care Credit to cover the bill so far, hoping it would buy us the time we needed to raise the funds for his care. The costs are overwhelming, but Banjo made it through a high-risk surgery, and I’m holding onto hope that he’ll pull through.

The funds raised here will go directly toward Banjo’s ongoing ICU care, medications, follow-up treatments, and paying off the Care Credit bill that made his emergency surgery possible.
