A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark, you can be the person who leaves a hallmark on the life of this outstanding young person, by opening the door to an education in the UK.
Banina is a 16-year-old Mozambican who loves to learn. Owing to no viable learning options close to home she has been home learning in Mozambique for years, just using past papers, youtube and books! She loves STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) and hopes to take Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A Level, she's also an avid French speaker.
Banina has been raised by her aunt and uncle (whom she calls Mum and Papa, Mum is British, Papa is Mozambican). She has lived with her two cousins, whom she regards as siblings, for over 6 years.
Banina's mum and siblings have spent the last year living in the UK due a family death, Bani joined them for 6 months (restricted due to the visa). Banina's Mum is likely to return to the UK more often to maintain a degree of support for a family member, as a consequence we've been looking into the option of Bani studying for her A Levels in the UK, the only way for her to do this is as a paying International student. She has been offered a generous bursary at a school in Shropshire, the school is outstanding and its location would mean that Banina can live with her Grandma (her Mum's mother) and avoid boarding costs. In order for her to study at this school we need to raise £16,000, this is obviously a huge amount of money and so the purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise the first year's fees of £8000 by the end of July 2021 (we'll worry about next year's fees next year!). The cost of the UK student visa, NHS surcharge, books, uniform and other resources for school will be paid for by Banina's Mum and Papa.
We aren't the sort of people who ask for money, but we simply don't have the large amount required for the student fees. Banina's Papa works in Mozambique and will be able to send some money to cover living costs in the UK, her Mum currently works as a support worker in a school.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this page, we really appreciate it.
Below are some photos of Banina growing up:
1. At 6 years old with her cousin, writing letters to her family in the UK
2. Age 9 with her siblings at home
3. Age 10 she was answering questions during an English lesson at home
4. Banina's 12th birthday
5. For World Book Day Banina dressed up as Mildred Hubble!
6. Age 13 at a party
7. At 15 Banina had a naming ceremony with her Mum and Papa and the rest of her family
8. Diligently studying at 16.

Thank you again for your time.
Warmest regards, from Banina and family :-)
