The new Santa Barbara -based neo-classic country band A Mother Country is hard at work on its debut album, "Motel on the Hill." We are humbly seeking fiscal help from interested parties to help us produce and release our twangin' virgin voyage.
The story so far: it was several years ago that musicians Joe Woodard (singer-songwriter/guitarist), Kenny Edwards (famed LA country pioneer/singer/guitarist/mandolinist/stellar human), Julie Christensen (singer, worked with Leonard Cohen, country punk band Divine Horseman, her own solo career) and drummer extraordinaire Tom Lackner (Jeff Bridges, etc., etc.) teamed up to start a country band. Originally called Another Country, plans were drawn, hopes were high.
Edwards' too-young passing moved the project onto a shelf, until resurrected during the COVID lockdown, and renamed A Mother Country (too many Another Country band names, album titles, product lines, etc.).
Work began anew, under the banner of A Mother Country, and with a fierce devotion to the cause of "neo-classic country--" emboldened by artists such as Charlie Crockett. After much studio work, the debut album, "Motel on the Hill," (so named after Los Alamos' historic and kitschy Skyview Motel) is far along in its progress. Christensen, bassist Steve Nelson, pedal steel ace Bill Flores (also in Bridges' band, etc.). drummer Austin Beede and other fine guests have been roped into the expanding party.
The end is in sight, but we are in need of your kind support to help grease the $ wheels of completion.
Can't thank you enough for your consideration!
Much obliged for your interest!
