In the early morning of Friday, March 13th, Eliezar was detained by ICE on his way home from work. His wife, Josselin, was left home with their two daughters, ages 11 and 6 years, and their 16-month-old son. She was worried about where her husband was until a week later, when they were finally able to contact each other. Eliezar decided to self-deport to their home country of Guatemala after weeks of being held in an ICE detention center.

This loving family has called Baltimore their home ever since they were reunited under a Biden administration program and now have had their lives uprooted by this traumatizing separation. The two daughters are creative students who share an interest in the arts. The baby son is a bright-eyed and active boy. Eliezar and Josselin are caring parents devoted to providing better opportunities for their children.
