Balthazar, a 9-year-old chocolate Labrador retriever, loves people and is dedicated to bringing joy and comfort to passengers as a therapy dog in his position as a K9 Ambassador at the Albuquerque International Sunport. He has been plagued with chronic ear infections and hematomas, where his ear flap fills with blood and pus, for months now. This has caused him much pain, made him quite lethargic, and seriously impacted his ability to work as a K9 Ambassador and curtailed fun times playing with his dog friends.

Treatments have included testing, multiple drains, prednisone, antibiotics, and ear wraps. Just when it would seem that his ear was going back to normal and he was perky, his ear flap would fill rapidly with blood, and we had to start treatment all over again. This is not sustainable, and his vets agree that surgery to remove tissue in his ear is necessary to prevent any more infections and hematomas. The costs for his treatment and surgery are way out of my budget and put me in a severe financial bind.
