Hi Everyone!
My name is Jennifer Meckley (she/they), an assistant professor of dance at Ball State University, choreographer, and dance extraordinaire!
As some of you may know, as a dance artist it can often be difficult to support your craft due to the lack of funding and opportunities available. As a college professor, I strive to create opportunities for my students to have professional performance experiences. However, it can be quite difficult due to financial restraints.
There have been two amazing opportunities that 16 current students, alumni and I have received to present our work. We have been asked to present our piece "Actions Speak Louder" in Beaumont TX at the Aimed Summer Dance Festival! Check out their website at https://aimeddancesummerfest.com and Instagram @aimeddance
Our work "A Long Way Away" will also be presented in NYC at Dixon Place through the Dance City Festival! Check out their website for more information https://www.dancecityfestival.com and social media @dancecityfestival_
What amazing opportunities right?!! However, we need some financial support to pay for lodging and travel. Unfortunately there is not much financial support from our University that is possible to acquire in a short period of time. I also feel it is important to not only help dance artists to pay for lodging and travel but any extra funds received will be provided to the students as artist fees and per diems. Being paid for your work is extremely important and these dancers have put in a lot of time and energy to perform these works and deserve to be compensated!!
We appreciate any support that you are able to give! Thank you so much for your consideration and donations. We are extremely grateful!
