Help Bali Get Life-Saving Heart Surgery

Donation protected
Hi there,

My name is Bali, and I am 11 years old. I was born in Belgium but I met my mummy in Paris when I was 3 months old. Fun fact, she was on her way to Bali, hence my cool name. Since we met, we have been on crazy adventures, traveling all over the world. I lived in Togo (West Africa) until I was 3 years old, and then we moved to Paris, New York and London. My English is not the best yet, but my friends love my French accent.
I’ve had a pretty great life filled with love, playtime and great treats (I'm a real foodie) but my health has never been the best. When I was 3, I was diagnosed with a condition called atlanto-axial instability. I had to wear a neck cast for almost 6 months but the treatment failed. The doctor was ready to put me to sleep but my mum refused to let me go, and she fought to get me the one and only doctor in New York that would agree to do cutting edge surgery. It was risky but here I am almost 8 years later.
Today we are faced with a new challenge, my little heart is not doing too well. I was diagnosed with mitral valve disease about 2 years ago and was stable for almost a year and a half. About 2 months ago I felt very sick and I was rushed to the hospital. The doctor said that one of the valves of my heart had ruptured and my heart has been deteriorating ever since despite the help from the doctors and medication. I have been given 10-12 months to live, with my only chance of survival being to get surgery that is very expensive, and only performed in three places in the world. The three hospitals are in the US, Japan and in the UK.
Please help me get better so my mum is not so sad anymore. She is a medical student and has used all of her savings to become a doctor. It has been a long and difficult road for her. She left her family and friends to pursue her career in medicine in the US. The only thing she has right now is me. She says I am her little ray of sunshine when she gets home after a long day of studying and hospitals, and that she wouldn’t have made it without me. I think she needs me to stick around a little longer. I want to make sure she is settled before I can leave her. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️❤️
