Help Bali Battle Plastic Pollution!

Bali is struggling.

Without a rubbish collection system or facilities to process and recycle, this beautiful island is drowning in plastic.

52% of Bali's waste is left in the environment.

Bali produces 4,281 tons of waste in a day, with 856 tons being plastic. That's 33,000 tons of plastic finding its way into our oceans every year.

44% of Bali's waste is dumped in landfill without any effective solutions. The main landfill in Bali is just 1km from the ocean, is over capacity, and is leaking into surrounding ground water and rivers.

Only 4% of waste in Bali is recycled.

51% of Bali's waste is from local households. In 2020, 81% of Indonesians did not sort their waste. The locals do not understand how to do this, and do not have the equipment required.

If you enjoy holidaying in Bali, you will have seen the devastating consequences of trash inevitably ending up in the forests, rivers, and the ocean.

Parahita Mulung have a plan to save Bali from plastic. We are creating a waste app to transform Bali's old and broken waste management system into a Green Circular Economy ecosystem, involving the community. We are planning on building a recycling plant where 150,000kg per month of plastic can be processed and repurposed, rather than dumped. This recycling plant will utilise sustainable resources and energy to work towards a better future for Bali.

We are initiating our role in waste management through 'The Last Hope'. This is an environmental awareness campaign that will be taking concrete steps towards solving Bali's plastic crisis.

Our founder, Yansyah, will be running a 466km marathon around Bali in 13 days, to spread information to locals about the impacts of plastic waste, how to sort waste from home, and facts around recycling plastic.

We will be collecting trash throughout the marathon, which is expected to be 10 tons of plastic waste and 30 tons of organic waste.

The campaign aims to educate Bali's people about the impact of their waste, and invite them to reduce and recycle their waste.

Throughout the campaign, we will be donating reusable trash bags so that 7,000 underprivileged locals in 39 villages can start to collect their plastic, so that Parahita Mulung can then recycle this.

We have managed to provide 3,000 reusable bags for Bali, but we need your help to deliver 4,000 more. These reusable bags cost $3AUD per bag, so our goal is to raise $12,000 for this initiative.
