Hi everyone,

I’m Deepthi Reddy Obulareddy Gari, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support for someone who’s like family to us Balaji Nayak, a 37-year-old truck driver who once worked closely with my father. Balaji is the sole provider for his family. He has a wife and three young children — two daughters and a son — all entirely dependent on him. He started out as a cattle grazer, worked his way up to driving trucks, and has always done everything he could to give his family a better life.

On September 11th, 2025, while crossing the road in Anantapur, Balaji was hit by a two-wheeler. He suffered a severe traumatic brain injury (right temporoparietal EDH) and was rushed to NIMHANS, Bengaluru one of India’s premier neurological institutes.

Over the next few days, he underwent:

• Emergency brain surgery (12th Sept) – to decompress the swelling and remove a large clot

• Tracheostomy (17th Sept) – as he remained unconscious and dependent on a ventilator

Even today, he remains in a coma, with limited brain response and full-time ventilator support.

Current Medical Status

• Neurologically unresponsive (E1VtM2)

• Requires intensive nursing and rehab

• On feeding support via PEG tube

• Needs daily physiotherapy and catheter care

Despite the severity of his injuries, he is hemodynamically stable and continues to fight. The doctors are hopeful, but his recovery will be slow and incredibly expensive.

With him unconscious and no income coming in, the family is struggling even to cover basic needs, let alone ongoing medical care.

We are doing everything we can as a family, but the costs of ICU care, surgical treatment, nursing support, and medications are overwhelming.
