We are Orvil Atkinson and Demson Salmon, two friends from Balaclava, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, working together to help our community and neighboring districts recover from the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa.
Our parish was at the center of landfall, and the destruction has been severe homes have been destroyed, farms washed away, and families have lost nearly everything. Roads are blocked, power lines are down, and many residents are struggling to access clean water, food, and basic supplies.
We both grew up in this community and still have family, friends, and neighbors living here. We’ve seen firsthand the damage and the urgent needs of people who haven’t yet received help.
How Funds Will Be Used
All funds raised will go directly toward:
• Purchasing and distributing food supplies, bottled water, and hygiene items
• Providing tarps, roofing materials, and basic repair tools for damaged homes
• Supporting elderly residents, single parents, and low-income families most affected by the storm
• Covering local transportation costs for delivering aid safely to rural areas
We will post photos, videos, and updates throughout the process to keep donors informed and ensure full transparency about how every dollar is spent.
Every contribution, big or small, helps bring relief and hope to families who are struggling to rebuild. Let’s come together to help Balaclava and nearby communities recover and restore their lives after Hurricane Melissa.
Thank you for your support and compassion.
