My name is Baisil Lourdayya, and I am fundraising because my life changed completely after a traumatic spinal cord injury. In November 2025, I suffered a serious accident in my flat in East London, which left me permanently paralysed.

I was admitted to hospital for four months, and I received specialist support from the RAAR unit at Royal London hospital. I have now been transferred to a nursing home, however, they don't have access to the specialist equipment that would allow me to rehabilitate.

I am from Kerala, South India, and my wife and three young children are in Kerala. I studied in the UK back in 2015 and came back to England in 2023 on a temporary visa, hoping to find employment and switch my visa. But destiny has left me with a spinal cord injury that has changed my life forever.

My family in India solely depend on me for their financial needs. As the schools are reopening on the 1st week of June, my children are in need of support to buy books and their school uniform. The thought that I can't support them in their necessities makes me want to cry. It is one of the greatest pains I carry. Since I have no valid visa to stay in the UK, I am unable to access support, benefits, or housing.

My doctors have told me that my injury is life‑changing and permanent. I will need care for the rest of my life and will never be able to work again. I am deeply grateful for the treatment I have received through the NHS, but it is unclear how long this support will continue or how I will reach my dear and near ones.

Currently, I have no income, no savings, and no safety net. I am raising funds to help me survive during this uncertain period and to support my children in India, who are struggling to find their daily bread.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference to my life and the lives of my children.
