Hello!

My name is Bailey and I am a first generation student at Emporia State University. I am a junior studying Biology, concentrating in Ecology and Biodiversity. I have a deep passion for the outdoors and the animals that live in it. I’m also a scholarly researcher through the McNair scholar's program. I’m an academic asset to science and research at ESU. I am also involved in performing and visual arts and ESU choirs. In my free time, I love to roller skate, draw, and read.

I also spend my free time helping the Emporia community through my volunteer docent work at the David Traylor Zoo and through assisting with Emporia State STEM Outreach. I value helping children learn about science and inspiring them to explore the world around them.

On February 8th, 2026 I had an accident while roller skating on a trail and broke my wrist in two places. The doctors said if my wrist doesn't heal properly, I may need surgery. I was devastated. I have no health insurance, financial support from my family, and no family in Emporia. I am drowning in medical bills and financial obligations, especially because I can no longer work to support myself. I can no longer drive, cook, or do most of the things I love.

I am humbly asking for $4000 to help me pay for my medical bills and provide support while I am unable to work. These monetary contributions will allow me to focus on taking time to heal and recover with the determination that I will soon be able to get back to doing what matters most to me: supporting education, the planet, and the children in my community.
