Bailey has been my loyal companion for 11 years, and I want to do everything I can to keep her healthy and happy. At her regular check-up last June, the vet discovered she has a slightly enlarged heart, a murmur, and abnormal liver enzymes. She was put on medication for her liver, and I was told to watch for signs like a blue tongue or excessive coughing. At the time, she wasn’t coughing much, and the medicine seemed to help a little.
Recently, though, Bailey’s coughing has become more frequent, especially after going up and down the stairs, and her liver enzymes have gotten worse. She has also lost quite a bit of weight, and I can feel her spine and ribs when I stroke her, which is heartbreaking. The vet now wants to run an all-day test to see if she has Cushing’s disease, and he’s recommending a new heart medicine that will be a significant monthly expense. I’m putting the Cushing’s test on my credit card, but after so many vet bills, my debt is overwhelming. My part-time work for a nonprofit has been slow, and my main job as a voice artist isn’t bringing in enough yet.
Any help will go toward Bailey’s monthly heart medicine, possible Cushing’s disease medication, and hopefully pay down some of my credit card so I can handle future emergencies. I’m sorry to have to ask for help. Even with pet insurance, the costs are more than I can manage. Bailey is my first dog as an adult, and I can’t imagine life without her. I’m swallowing my pride to do anything for her. I appreciate any help, and please share if you can. Thank you.
