hey y'all! my car broke down about a month ago. this is my only reliable transportation to get to my job which is my sole source of income right now. I've been bumming rides and borrowing friends' vehicles for the time being but i can't keep doing that forever. i was already living paycheck to paycheck before this happened. i have no savings and rent takes up almost my entire check. i need help raising the money needed to get a good mechanic to fix the engine up and get me back on the road. anything extra i receive from this will go towards rent, bills, groceries, and essentials.

[EDIT 12/5/25:] i have found a good mechanic. what he found out was that there is no compression in the engine. low oil pressure likely caused the timing chain to jump. now it's either take my chances finding someone else to repair/replace the chain or replace the whole motor. there's one available for $1750. with labor i'm projecting the total cost to around $2-2.5k.
