Help Bahati stay at Woodland

Background: I've known Bahati since he was born. I knew his mother, and his older two brothers when I lived in Nairobi. Sadly, his mother passed away in 2015, and he was taken to Shelter Yetu to be reunited with his brother, who had been rescued from the streets the previous year. In 2019, we began fostering both of the boys. For the last few years, we have been fostering them on and off, until it was decided this year that our place was the best place for Bahati long-term.

For 9 months, he attended a local government school. However, due to his history of trauma and loss, we decided that it would be better for him to join our other children at the international school they attend. This is primarily because very harsh corporal punishment is still very widely used in government schools.

We can't allow for our biological children to go to school in a supportive and loving environment, and Bahati to fear that he might be beaten for missing a math question any given day.

While our company very generously pays for our biological children's school fees, there isn't currently a provision for foster children. As we continue to pray that the Lord might open a door for adoption, we are asking our friends and family to stand in the gap for now, and help us get Bahati to Woodland Star.

We praise the Lord Bahati given a very generous 60 percent scholarship this year to attend the same school, where he is thriving. We have already raise close to $1,000 and are remaining with $5,000 to pay for the school year. If you feel led to help us with this expense, we would be deeply grateful.

Having all of our children be able to attend a safe, close school allows both Daniel and I to continue in our ministries.
