I'm Sean. My husband, Cameron, and I would love to introduce you to a special little guy, who we are calling Badger.
Cameron and I are big fans of dogs-- particularly rescues, with 2 of our own already. We're no strangers to what it takes to help rehabilitate and support a struggling pup. With everything going on in the world, it feels good to help take care of something so vulnerable and asking for a chance at a good life.
Badger was found abandoned in our neighborhood, wandering the street on election night. Unfortunately, this little guy tested positive for canine parvovirus, which might explain why such an amazing little dude was left out in the snow. Badger is sweet, curious, and calm. He is trying so hard to not have accidents in the house and loves a cuddle and takes any chance to nuzzle under your chin. Despite being very ill, he has been positive and playful-- great signs for a good prognosis as he fights parvovirus.
Parvovirus treatment is very costly and only has an 80% success rate. His little eyes are saying he's a fighter- putting him down didn't seem right to us. Let's show this guy some love and help get him back on his feet.
Here's what we know:
- Badger was chipped but his owners have been unresponsive to calls and texts to the #s on file. Vets have reason to believe this is an abandoned pup.
- Canine parvovirus is serious and highly contagious. The cost of care being so high included both needed medications (including monoclonal antibodies) but also around-the-clock care, monitoring, sanitization and isolation from other pups.
- I have paid the first half of the vet bill (see included receipt images), and thankfully Badger responded so well to monoclonal antibodies the first round, they don’t think he’ll need a second, bringing the cost of treatment to about $3k rather than the full $5k.
- While I don't anticipate raising all funds, anything helps! If you can help us give this guy a new, fresh start he'd be so thankful. Even $5 helps!
