Help Bader-Pingul Family Recover from Fire

First of all, Kendra, in true Kendra fashion doesn't want anyone to worry and wants everyone to know that the family (and pets) are physically OK. Nobody was hurt, thank goodness!! However, the Pingul-Bader family did experience a tragic and devastating house fire this last weekend and so many of us love and care for this family and want to help. So, here is a way for us to show a little bit of support while they figure things out with insurance and rebuilding their lives.

Saturday night, the family experienced quite a shock when their chimney caught fire. It was a cold day and Leah had two soccer games in the pouring rain. After being outside all day they decided to have one last fire of the season.

Everyone was going to bed and Kendra had just sat down to wait until the fire died down and watch some TV in peace. (Moms you know about the silent hour we try to take for our sanity when the house is quiet.) Kendra was texting with her best friend when suddenly a flame shot straight up out of the seam of mantle against the wall! Kendra was yelling to the kids and Chris that there was a fire and to get out of the house. Once the kids were situated outside they secured the pets.

Initially it seemed to be isolated to the chimney/mantle, Chris was putting it out and TFD contained it quickly when they arrived.

Just as things were calming down and seemed to be out, TFD began clearing some of the smoke, and flames started shooting out of the roof around the chimney from the second story, taking over the master bedroom area.

So there they stood, outside with what seemed like our entire neighborhood, and watched our 112 year old home fall apart.

The family wants to thank Tacoma Fire Department for such a quick response! Aaron, (the girls' dad and TPD Officer) they are so thankful he was working and arrived so quickly so the girls could hug their dad. The family is so grateful he was able to stay with them for awhile and continue to check on them throughout the night. Monica (Jameson's mom), the family is so grateful that you were there for Jameson in a second, Chris and Kendra cannot thank you enough!

To all of Chris and Kendra's family, friends and neighbors; they want to express their deepest gratitude from the bottom of their hearts for all the support and kindness shown within moments. From taking the kids, pets, and Chris & Kendra in for the night, or offering the literal jackets off your backs and shoes off your feet when seeing they didn’t have any on, just THANK YOU. And to the Amsbary’s, Chris and Kendra love you and Kendra won’t ever be able to put her gratitude into the right words without bawling her eyes out.

This is all so much to process the family wants you to know if they don’t get back to calls or messages right away, just know they definitely feel all the love and support. ❤️❤️
