Hello Theatre Friends!
I'm Adam Paolozza, Artistic Director for Bad New Days. We're an independent company that makes exciting, innovative visual theatre. You might remember us from such works as Spent, The Double, or other works that we've collaborated on like Flashing Lights and The Cave. You might also remember us from a program we started early in the pandemic, Micro Grants for Artists, which administered modest, one-time only grants for groceries, no questions asked, to artists across the country.
As you can imagine, the pandemic has been very hard on artists and many of us have been out of work, with projects deferred and sometimes cancelled. We've been fortunate enough to be offered a chance to take our Dora-Award nominated show, Italian Mime Suicide, to play at Théâtre Aux Écuries, a fantastic theatre in Montreal. We're aiming at playing for 1 week in early November, 2021.
This is the first time we've been able to produce work since the pandemic started. It's an incredible chance for us to take our work out of Toronto, employ a team of 13 artists and technicians, and develop a new audience in Montreal, which will have a long lasting impact on our company's growth and touring possibilities.
However, touring is expensive, even in non-pandemic times, and we're just a little bit shy of our funding goals.
We need your help!
Any little bit can help, and we're happy to offer rewards for donations like free workshop opportunities, grant writing support and tickets to future shows.
All donations will help fund artists' travel expenses, accommodations and other touring related expenses.
Thank you again, and we hope that you'll be able to help us keep independent theatre thriving.
