Our son Liam and his wife are facing one of the most difficult moments of their lives. Both in their early 20s, they recently welcomed their baby girl, Zoe Drake, into the world. Zoe was born early at 36 weeks and, heartbreakingly, she arrived not breathing. She was immediately rushed to the NICU, where doctors discovered her lungs were underdeveloped and she had contracted pneumonia from the birth canal. Since her birth, Zoe has remained in the NICU, stable but still on a ventilator. The cost of oxygen and specialized care is overwhelming, and the private hospital is the only place where Zoe can receive the treatment she needs. Unfortunately, their insurance in Guatemala does not cover these expenses, and the public hospital simply could not provide the quality of care Zoe needed to survive. While Sofi is healthy and recovering well, Zoe continues to fight for her life. They have not yet been able to hold her, feed her themselves, or care for her the way they long to.
The mounting medical bills are overwhelming, and they are about to be hit with costs that they simply cannot cover on their own; it's costing them a lot in comparison to their Guatamalan salaries. They are contributing as much as they can themsleves, but are in need of some help.
They never imagined they would be in a position to ask for help, but they are left with no other option. Any support you can offer will go directly toward Zoe’s care and give her the best chance at a healthy future. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to them, and they are deeply grateful for your help during this incredibly challenging time.
Thanks.
