Help baby Yusuf's family who lost everything in a house fire
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Birte and I'm a registered midwife in Vernon. Little Yusuf was born in April under my team's care. His parents Sajeela and Aman came to Canada from Pakistan in 2022/23 and have no family here.
On June 28th at 2am while baby Yusuf was nursing, dad Aman noticed a fire that quickly destroyed the house they were living in, and with it everything they owned, including their car that was parked just outside.
The front door was already blocked by fire when Sajeela tried to escape with baby Yusuf, but luckily they were able to get out a back door.
Obviously thankful for their lives, they have to start from scratch when they're moving into a new rental place in August (which they have found).
Despite Aman working full time, they need help getting back on their feet and need EVERYTHING.
I have created a group for donations for baby items separately but am hoping our community can come together and donate funds to help them rebuild and recover.
As midwives we work so closely with families. Seeing one of our couples go through this is heartbreaking.
Losing everything, barely escaping with their lives, and all this far away from family, has been hard. Having a community that builds them up would mean the world to them.
