Help the Jorstad family & their NICU journey!

Story

Hello, my name is Alysa and I am reaching out on behalf of my friends Nicole and Jamie. We have created this GoFundMe page to seek your support in covering the medical costs, gas expenses, and accommodations necessary for them to be with their baby boy, Wylee Scott, as he bravely battles his health challenges. Wylee was born on November 20th, 2023, four weeks earlier than anticipated. Shortly after his birth, doctors discovered an unknown placenta abruption which led to complications for both Wylee and Nicole. With Nicole experiencing significant blood loss and Wylee ingesting excessive fluids, he required immediate suction and oxygen support. Despite these efforts, Wylee did not show signs of improvement, resulting in his transfer to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Bismarck. Unfortunately, Wylee's health struggles continued as he began experiencing seizures, leading to a further transfer to the NICU in Bismarck for specialized care. The medical team worked tirelessly to stabilize Wylee, administering medications to stop the seizures and maintaining his oxygen levels. They even implemented cooling therapy to minimize potential brain distress. Following an MRI, Wylee was diagnosed with severe brain damage. This devastating news means that Wylee will likely require a feeding tube and will need to start from scratch with his therapies, beginning from day one. He is expected to stay in the Bismarck NICU for a minimum of two weeks, but it could extend up to eight weeks to ensure he receives the necessary early therapies, particularly related to feeding support. The emotional and financial burden on Nicole and Jamie is immense. Your kind donations will provide them with the much-needed support to cover medical expenses, transportation costs, and accommodations during their frequent trips to be by Wylee's side. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in helping this family overcome the challenges they face. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our plea for support. Your generosity will mean the world to Nicole, Jamie, and, most importantly, Wylee as he embarks on his brave, journey towards recovery. In addition to financial support, we kindly ask for your continued prayers and positive thoughts for Nicole, Jamie, and their family. Your well wishes and positive energy have an incredible impact during difficult times like these. Please keep them in your thoughts as they navigate the challenges ahead and work towards the best possible outcome for their precious baby boy, Wylee. Your support in all forms is deeply appreciated.
