Help Baby Wren Heal & Fly Home!

Alright folks after much debate and consideration we have decided to increase the goal amount on this fundraiser to encourage continued support. Although Wren is doing well they are facing a long stay in the hospital still. It could be several more weeks. We want to reiterate that any donations above and beyond what is need to cover Wren's direct medical bills will be donated to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta charity both to support patients and the therapy dog program associated with the program. Once Wren, Emily, and Tom are through this we imagine they will be life long supporters of CHOA given the world class care Wren has received. Below is a link to the organization's page if you want to learn more about their mission:

6/11/21 - WE DID IT!! We made the goal!! A BIG THANK YOU to all who have contributed!!! Emily and Tom are forever grateful for the community of family and friends who have rallied around their little family during this time. Wren has been making good progress this last day or two since the picc line was placed (on 6/10) but Tom, Emily, and Wren face a long stay at the hospital and are still unsure of the final cost of the stay and treatments will be. The GoFundMe page will remain available for those who want to contribute via this website. Otherwise, please read Emily's update below here for other ways you can contribute to help Wren bust out of that hospital and fly home!!

Thoughts from Emily regarding continued offers of help:

Everyone has been asking repeatedly how they can help, which is amazing and really hard for both of us, as we are not people who ask for handouts. That being said, we are at a point where we don’t know what we need, until we need it (example: we discovered her pacifier clips are too heavy, so we had to order lighter ones. Since she’s not able to eat, pacifiers are giving us all relief and allowing her to maintain her amazing latch for brighter days ahead). You guys have given food and cards and clothes and donated to our ever growing hospital bills, so please do not feel like you need to give more. We are asking for Amazon cards moving forward, so that we can order whatever needs pop up while we remain here. As always, the thoughts and messages are what get us through and we read them together and to her every day. This is not a call for help. Simply some info for those that have offered. My therapist said that people who want to help just want to know how, so I’m trying to listen.

ORIGINAL POST
Wren has been in the hospital since June 3rd. She is in the hands of the incredible pediatric gastrointestinal team at the world renowned Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Egleston Hospital. She has been such a little trooper as the doctors have tried to diagnose the cause of her vomiting and diarrhea with lots of tests and poking and prodding. Wren’s diagnosis is a milk protein intolerance. She has continued to struggle with dehydration and weight loss. As a result, she currently has a feeding tube through which she is receiving prescription formula and an IV for nutrition/fluids. It will take some time for her GI system to heal and it means a potentially long stay in the hospital along with other medical care once she gets to go home.

There have been many offers of help, which have been very much appreciated, and more are needed. We can all help reduce the financial stress for Emily and Tom and help them focus entirely on helping their sweet girl heal as quickly as possible. Any amount you can donate, big or small, will be received with heartfelt gratitude. All funds will go directly to medical costs. Any contributions above what is necessary for Wren’s medical bills will be donated to a child’s charity associated with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (specific details to follow in a later update.)

Emily and Tom feel so blessed that Wren is receiving world-class care, and has a diagnosis and path forward. A contribution to help this little family will make such a difference on that path to Wren breaking out of the hospital and flying home!
