Help Baby Timofeev and his family

Donation protected

On June 21, Oksana (29 weeks pregnant) experienced severe pain in her belly. Her panicked husband, Dima, called the ambulance and then frantically called around several hospitals to find one that would accept his pregnant wife. Finally he was able to find one that had space for them, and the ambulance rushed them there.

Dima and Oksana thought that she had an infection, but once they arrived at the hospital the doctors examined her and discovered that she was in premature labour. Their baby was found to be in severe distress and Oksana was rushed into emergency surgery to give him a chance at survival. What should have been a happy day in the future became a very present nightmare.

Mum and baby pulled through surgery, but Dima and Oksana's little boy has been on a ventilator since his delivery. Yesterday, he managed his first few breaths on his own, but he's still fighting hard in intensive care. The doctors have told the new parents that their little boy will need to be in the NICU for at least 2 weeks and then will have to spend another 2 months in the hospital.

Some of you might remember how Dima and Oksana looked after me when I was stuck in Russia last year. They helped me through one of the hardest times I've experienced, isolated from friends and family in a country far from home. They're some of the kindest and most generous people I've ever met and I've started this GoFundMe page to help their little family with the huge hospital costs in this really terrifying and worrying time for them. Your donations will be used to pay for intensive care and ongoing recovery of Baby Timofeev.

If you’ve ever experienced anything like this you'll know that asking for help is never easy, so I've set this up on behalf of my friends. The kindness of strangers is an incredible thing, creating links that can help you at the most unexpected times. I hope that I can give some help to this beautiful family who looked after me when I really needed it. If you can donate or are just in a position to share this page, I would be so very grateful on behalf of Oksana, Dima and their little baby boy.

Below are some of the bills that have been received so far for the baby's care. 700,000 rubles is about 7,000 GBP.
