Our beautiful baby boy Remi is 11 months old and is currently fighting the hardest battle of his life.
Remi’s journey began when he was just 7 months old, after becoming seriously ill with infections, including RSV. His condition continued to deteriorate, and he has now suffered 27 cardiac arrests, along with multiple respiratory arrests where he stopped breathing.
During one of his most recent cardiac arrests at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Remi required 26 minutes of CPR before doctors were able to stabilise him.
Remi has now been in hospital for a total of four and a half months, and for the past two months he has been on life support.
His journey has taken him across multiple hospitals. He was initially treated at another hospital before being transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for specialist care. While there, he developed coronavirus along with a severe chest and lung infection, which caused further complications and required chest drains to support his lungs.
He was then transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he spent 10 days undergoing urgent investigations, before being transferred by specialist transport to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where he is currently in Intensive Care under the care of leading neurology specialists and expert medical teams.
Following his cardiac arrests, Remi has suffered multiple serious complications, including kidney injury, acute liver failure, and multiple brain infarctions. His brain has been shrinking with each MRI, and these changes are now affecting his brainstem, which controls vital functions. Despite undergoing a huge number of tests — including genetic, metabolic, and neurological investigations — doctors are still working to find a clear diagnosis.
Due to the complexity of Remi’s condition, his case has now reached an international level. Specialists from Boston Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) are now involved, working alongside his UK medical team to provide ongoing advice and explore every possible avenue for diagnosis and treatment.
Remi will turn one year old on Thursday 9th April 2026. As parents, we should be celebrating this special milestone at home, but instead we will be by his side in hospital. This is an incredibly difficult and emotional time for our family, and especially for Remi, but we will do everything we can to make his day as special as possible.
As parents, we are doing absolutely everything we can to fight for our little boy and give him the best possible chance at recovery. While the NHS has provided incredible care, we are also exploring additional specialist input and support to ensure nothing is missed and every possible option is considered.
Remi is an incredibly strong little boy and continues to fight every single day. Seeing his strength through this unimaginable situation gives us hope that he can overcome this.
Any support, donations, or simply sharing Remi’s story would mean the world to our family. Your kindness will help us focus on what matters most — being by Remi’s side and giving him the best possible chance at life.
The funds raised will help support Remi’s ongoing care and recovery. While the hospital continues to provide critical treatment, the funds will help with:
• Specialist consultations and advice from leading paediatric neurologists and medical experts
• Rehabilitation therapies such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and neuropsychology
• Travel and accommodation costs for hospital visits
• Family support to help cover living costs while we remain by Remi’s side during this incredibly difficult time
Your support will help give Remi the best possible chance at recovery and allow our family to focus entirely on his care.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our brave little fighter, Remi.
