Help Baby Randy with his medical bills
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Colleen, and I am fundraising for my Great Nephew, Randy James Williams, who was born at twenty-nine weeks gestation and has many issues due to being born early. I am fundraising to help the family with his medical bills and his medical tests in future.
It's essential to help this young family and their baby boy as they are stuggling to pay for all of Randy's needs. The funds will go directly to the family to pay for his medical; bills, formula and future tests he needs to have.
Here is his father Mitchell's story of Randy's early birth and the long road he will have ahead.
Hello! We are the Williams family. My wife Veronica and I (Mitchell) recently had our very first baby boy. His name is Randy James Williams, named after his grandfather. From the beginning, before Randy was born, my wife and I struggled to conceive a child. After visiting many specialists, we had our miracle! It was so beautiful watching him grow from such a small dot with a strong heartbeat until the day he arrived. God had other plans for Randy’s arrival. Randy was born at 29 weeks. He weighed just 3 lbs and could not breathe on his own. Randy spent over seven weeks in the NICU, on feeding tubes, oxygen, and in the incubator. Also, while in the hospital, the medical professionals spotted a slight irregularity in his heart. After seven weeks, Randy was finally able to come home! He was roughly 5 lbs, and we were so happy. Not long after being home, we started noticing issues with his formula and his inability to go to the bathroom by himself. We regularly saw our pediatrician to find out why Randy was having difficulties. For weeks, we had been switching formulas. During his 3rd week home, he was throwing up so much and still had not pooped on his own. He was retaken to the hospital and placed on Pedialyte only and a feeding tube. He was extremely dehydrated due to being unable to digest food or go to the bathroom. After a week, we found a hypoallergenic formula he took well to. Again, a few days later, we were back to square one. He could not eat and still could not poop without an enema or suppository. We began to now see a specialist for GI. He recommended a new formula. A reminder that all formula in the USA is in significant shortage and very expensive. We tried this formula but have had little success. The next step was to have two biopsies done. They did one of his esophagus and one of his rectum. After waiting a week, both came back negative for anything. Our doctors are still stumped about why he can’t go to the bathroom, and we have a few more tests coming up in the next few weeks. It’s now month three, and our baby boy needs an enema daily. He is in a lot of pain each day, causing him to sleep about 8 hours a day if we're lucky. Not enough for a baby, and that’s his good days. He somedays cannot keep food down, and it is heartbreaking for my wife and me to watch. We both feel so helpless and are hoping something will happen and the doctors will find out what’s happening. His heart issues are currently being looked at, but we have our next appointment in November. We will do anything for our child, no matter the costs. Our insurance does cover something in the USA, but not much. We are blessed to have Randy and only want the best for him. Emotionally this has taken a toll on the family and us. Financially it has as well. I have recently had to quit my job to stay home with our son full time as daycare is 1,000$ a month in our area, and they will not accept him due to his health issues. We are lucky my wife makes ok money to pay for most of our essentials. His formula and medication costs are roughly 600 dollars a month or more. We haven’t received all the medical bills yet, but they are starting to pile up. We sold our other car to make ends meet. Again, we are blessed that we have our baby boy and hope with gods help and prayers, we can get him to everyday life.
