Help Baby Oreo Walk Again

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Baby Oreo.  I am 1 yr and 9 months old and my breed is a teddy bear (bichon frise/shih tzu).  Saturday, my mommy and me took a long walk on a beautiful day.  My mommy did not have me on a leash because I listen so well when I'm with her.  That decision she regrets so much and wishes she could take back.  Because unfortunately, only two blocks from our home I was hit by a car.  But the most tragic thing about it was, my mommy and I were both in street and car sped up to purposely try to hit me.  My mommy cried and hollered please stop, please stop and threw her hands up begging the driver, but to no avail he wouldn't, he actually sped up.  I was so confused, so I was debating if I should go to my mommy or make it to the other side. I was so close, but my mommy seemed scared I didn't know what to do.  My mommy tried so hard to get me, but I can tell she was scared too because she kept screaming my name and saying please stop and crying. After the car appeared to drive over me, mom immediately tried to pick me up.  I was scared and in pain, so I wouldn't let my mommy pick me up at first I kept biting her.  And all I could hear is my mommy crying saying, "I'm so sorry baby, mommy is so sorry and "It's ok, mommy has you please let mommy get you babe".  I finally let my mommy scoop me up as gentle as she could, she didn't know if blood was hers or mine on her hand, she just wanted us to hurry and get me to a safer place.  My mom looked around to see if there were any people to witness  this tragic event. No one...which hurt my mommy because she only knows it was a small blue car and didn't have time to get licence plate because she wanted to get me safely out of the street before more cars came.  We both cried all the way home as my mom held me close like a newborn baby.

I know my mommy and siblings love me so much and this is one of the most horrifying things a family can experience.  They took me to Emergency room directly after it happened where they gave me medications to calm my pain because I couldn't lay properly.  They discovered I have a fractured pelvic bone and gave me options to have surgery to repair or amputate leg.  This news was alot for my mom because on the outside I look ok, but I'm not on the inside.  She's so grateful I'm alive she just prays I can grow to have a healthy life.  My mom was too emotional to make a decision, especially with quotes of additional 7k for surgery and amputation unknown at time. They recommended my mommy follow up with our vet Monday morning for second opinion/recommendation. They atleast sent me home with meds. My mommy slept with me until 2 am and my brother and sister slept in living room, while I had to stay in crate in a bed to not move or I risk making my fracture worst.

The next morning mommy's friend recommended another vet to go to that was more reasonable and still reputable. I cried throughout the night so my mommy immediately called them( she didn't want to wait any longer especially chancing my vet clinic not being equipped possibly to help me acquiring another unnecessary bill (not contributing towards repairs). They said to send over my records and x-rays which my mommy did and we headed there with new hopes that maybe its not as bad as it was shared.  Mommy asked if their surgeons can do surgery and they said  yes and they rotate with four surgeons on call. Sounds like good news to my mommy!

7 hrs later - No avail, the new vet took new x-rays because they said they have to do a measurement of plate to install in pelvic during surgery. Run blood work to see if I can have surgery.  So, my mommy asked them what is best option for me- since I am otherwise healthy baby? This vet quoted approximately 2k difference in surgery and amputation 400 dollars less than surgery. Now mommy asks will I be able to walk again if surgery is done?  This is when mommy found out they actually had No surgeons on hand that day who could even do surgery or answer questions.  My mommy waited to find out and confirm healing process. It was confirmed it will take 10-12 weeks for me to heal after they do surgery on my pelvic bone (install metal plate and screws in hip).  Still awaiting other answers to medical care during and after surgery, but soonest they can do my surgery is Friday, May 6th.  My mommy scheduled it because she wants me to walk again.

My mommy's friends have been beyond supportive calling, texting, praying for me every day.  She is grateful.  Although, she was not comfortable starting a go fund me everyone said it's a way for people who want to see me heal and bless us if they are able to do it, because they want to do it.  So please know it's okay if you don't donate, my mommy loves everyone and is so appreciative for the willingness and support along the way during this process.   Thank you in advance for your help towards my surgery and God Bless you! My mommy will keep you updated.

Love,
Baby Oreo
