Help Baby Oliver and Family Through Leukemia Battle

Help Baby Oliver Fight Cancer!

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but life has absolutely turned our world upside down… My sister, Monica, has always been the strongest person I know, but the past two years have tested her in unimaginable ways.

Just a year and a half ago, Monica’s husband, Ken, was diagnosed with cancer. Ken underwent months of difficult treatments and surgeries before finally going into remission. We thought the worst was behind us and Monica and Ken had almost a year of normalcy.

Then, Oliver was born this year on the Fourth of July —a beautiful, sweet, and strong-willed little boy who brought them so much joy, but the joy was short-lived. When Oliver was six weeks old, Monica started noticing purple spots on his body and spent days going to different hospitals to find answers. After three different hospitals, a transfer by ambulance, a biopsy, and countless blood tests, Oliver was diagnosed with leukemia, a cancer of the blood. The type is AML. He’s just seven weeks old and is now about to face something that no child ever should.

The doctors have been amazing, and they’re doing everything they can to give Oliver the best possible chance, but the reality is, Oliver is going to need chemotherapy and a lot of care. My sister has already been through so much with Ken, and now this? It just doesn’t seem fair.

As you can imagine, the financial burden is overwhelming. The medical bills and lost income from Ken’s treatment have already drained their savings, and now they’re facing another mountain of expenses. Not only that, but Ken and Monica have four other young children at home, all aged 7 and under, who deserve as much love and attention as Oliver does during this time. The other kids are homeschooled and finding childcare that will continue with their routine is difficult. Between the cost of Oliver’s inpatient treatments, the travel to and from the hospital, and the time Ken has to take off work to care for their other children at home, the financial strain is crushing. It’s heartbreaking to see them trying to balance the needs of all their children. The cost of childcare is significant, especially for four kids, and it’s another expense that’s adding to their stress and worry.

That’s why I’m reaching out to you today. I want to take one burden off their shoulders so they can focus on what truly matters—getting Oliver through this and ensuring their other children are cared for in the process. Every little bit helps, whether it’s $5 or $50, and all the funds will go directly towards Oliver’s medical expenses, childcare costs for the other kids, and supporting Monica and Ken during this incredibly difficult time.

The treatment for AML (acute myeloid leukemia) is typically six months of receiving chemotherapy drugs as a patient staying in the hospital if everything goes according to plan which will result in additional childcare costs for at least six months as well as the deductible for any medical bills which can per astronomical for chemotherapy drugs and the nightly cost of staying in the hospital. Childcare costs are anticipated to be around $4,000 per month in addition to the medical bills that they will receive for the inpatient chemotherapy. Any amount donated will go toward covering these medical and childcare costs.

If you aren’t able to donate, please consider sharing this page with your friends and family- it would be greatly appreciated and help us to reach others who may be able to help! And most importantly, please keep Oliver and his siblings in your thoughts and prayers. We believe in the power of thoughts and prayers and are holding onto hope that Oliver will come out of this healthy and strong, and that their family can be together again.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, support, and love.

With gratitude,
Olivia Johnson
