Hi, my name is Janerine, and I am Nathaniel's aunt. I am raising funds to support my nephew's medical treatment and give him access to the care he urgently needs.

Nathaniel's life began in a way no parent expects as when he was born, he wasn't breathing.

He came out blue, and within moments, doctors had to resuscitate him. Instead of being placed in his mother's arms, he was taken away immediately for urgent care.

For the first month of his life, his mother couldn't hold him. No quiet bonding moments. Just machines, wires, and waiting outside hospital rooms, hoping he would be okay.

This was her first child, a baby she had carried for nine months, dreaming of that very moment.

As time went on, it became clear that Nathaniel's start in life had caused serious challenges.

He was later diagnosed with:

Since birth, he has experienced ongoing seizures, some severe enough that doctors had to sedate him to protect his brain.

Now, at almost 3 years old, Nathaniel is still unable to walk, talk, or sit independently.

Despite everything, he continues to show strength in his own quiet way.

Even through the challenges, Nathaniel has a gentle, beautiful spirit.

He smiles.

He react to the people he loves.

He brings moments of light into his parents' lives that words can't fully describe.

His mother and father do everything they can to keep joy in their home, celebrating the small wins, holding onto hope, and making sure Nathaniel feels love every single day.

Because to them, he is not defined by his condition. He is their son, their joy, their reason to keep going.

Life since then has been a constant cycle of hospital visits, treatment, and trying to manage his care as best as possible.

His mother has done everything she can, but it hasn't been easy.

Living in Jamaica, access to the level of care Nathaniel needs is limited, and the costs continue to add up.

Like many parents, she looks online and sees children with similar conditions improving through specialised treatment elsewhere, and it gives her hope, but also reminds her of what is currently out of reach for baby Nathaniel.

What Will This Fundraiser Help With:

Recently, a new opportunity has opened for Nathaniel.

A specialised Intensive Therapy Program in Iowa, USA has been recommended as part of his care. This programme focuses on improving movement, brain function, and overall development through structured daily therapy.

This type of treatment is not available locally and is an important step in helping improve his quality of life.

The challenge is the cost.

The programme itself is overwhelming, not to mention the travel and additional medical expenses as well.

For a family already managing ongoing care, this is simply more than they can handle alone.

This is why we're reaching out as we're hoping to give Nathaniel access to the care that could help him develop, grow, and experience more of the world around him.
