Help Baby Moses & Our Family Through This Heart Journey

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

Our sweet son, Moses, came into the world after a 55-hour labor. He was born not breathing and had to spend his first days in the NICU. Soon after, doctors diagnosed him with Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (PAPVR) — a congenital heart defect where some of the veins that should carry oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the heart connect to the wrong place. This puts extra strain on his heart and lungs and can only be corrected with open-heart surgery.

Right now, Moses is being closely monitored while doctors wait as long as possible to perform the surgery, since the procedure and recovery will be safer as he grows. Still, we know it’s coming sooner rather than later. Until then, our family’s focus is on keeping him healthy and preparing for what’s ahead.

On top of these medical challenges, our family has faced unexpected hardship. We moved from Michigan to Charlotte, North Carolina, for what we thought would be a great job opportunity. My husband was promised benefits, including paid paternal leave, but those promises turned out to be false. After speaking up about how it affected our family, he was fired.

This left us with no choice but to return to Michigan to be near family for help with Moses and his many appointments. However, we’re still stuck paying $1,900/month rent in North Carolina until February, unless we pay a $4,000 fee to break the lease. To make matters worse, our only car broke down during the move back, leaving us without reliable transportation just as we need it most for work and Moses’s medical care.

My husband has a job lined up with UPS, but we’re already behind on bills and know things will only get harder when Moses has his surgery and recovery.

We are asking for help to get through this incredibly difficult season. Donations will go directly toward:
• Covering rent and lease-break fees from North Carolina
• Securing a reliable vehicle for medical appointments and work
• Keeping up with bills and living expenses while we care for Moses
• Preparing for the financial strain of his open-heart surgery and recovery

This is not where we expected to be, but we are holding onto hope and to the strength of our baby boy. Any amount helps and would mean the world to us. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing our story so we can reach more people.

From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for helping us fight for Moses ❤️

With love,
The Sanchez Family
