Hi everyone!
Newer update*
June 30th Lucas has left us :(
New update
Lucas unfortunately had a bad night on Friday & is currently brain dead in a coma. We are so heartbroken.
*UPDATE*
Lucas boy got his genetic testing back after 5 weeks & found out he has a rare muscle disease called RyR1, 1 in 90,000 kids get this. His case is mild & not progressively worse which is awesome & good news, this explains his respiratory issues and his head/eyes being more floppy than the normal. His brain & heart are perfect & will not be affected. This was a huge relief for us knowing it wasnt any worse. With alot of physical therapy he'll be strong little boy but it will take some time in his learning years. First few years will be tough getting him stronger but he’s a tough little peanut Thank you for everyone who has been reaching out, checking in, & supporting us during this hard time. We appreciate it more than words can say. This week we’ll be meeting with a group of doctors & specialists to help us make a plan for what’s next.
With learning this new information I am not sure when I will or even be able to go back to work considering the extra therapy & support needed.
We’re reaching out during one of the most challenging times in our lives to respectfully ask for your support.
Our baby boy, Lucas, was born five weeks ago and has been in the NICU at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa Bay ever since, bravely fighting respiratory issues. Our sweet baby boy was so close to coming home when he started choking & stopped breathing for about 70 seconds. He then caught pneumonia & is having some issues.
So we now are taking it day by day and getting more testing done to figure out whats causing all of this. While we’re very grateful for the incredible care he’s receiving, it’s been an emotional and financial struggle as we remain by his side everyday driving back & forth.
Ive been out of work since December & unable to go back until our little man is healthy & home, Patrick is working full-time to keep up with expenses, but with only one income, and uncertainty with medical bills, things have become overwhelming.
We never imagined we’d be in this position, If you are able to help—whether it’s a small donation, sharing this page, or sending us love and prayers—it truly means the world to us.
Every bit of kindness brings us closer to making sure Lucas has the care he needs and the support our family depends on right now.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help in this difficult time.
With love,
Devon, Patrick & Baby Lucas
