This young family desperately needs your prayers and support. Abby is pregnant with their fourth child and little Lily has been diagnosed with severe developmental defects. When this was first revealed to Abby & Derek several months ago, they made the difficult and courageous decision to not end their unborn child’s life (as was suggested by medical personnel) but to instead trust God for a miracle and give Lily a chance for life. I have known Derek since he was a teen in my youth ministry more than 15 years ago, where I had the privilege of seeing him give his life to Christ and become a sincere follower of Jesus. He actually met Abby while they were both in an intense residential discipleship program in California, where Derek had gone to grow deeper in his faith. Derek & Abby have already walked through a major family tragedy when their first son, Ian, was stillborn. But God has since blessed them with two beautiful, healthy children who light up their lives. They are believing God for a miracle and little Lily to be born whole, yet they are submitted to God’s will and want to give Lily a chance for life, whatever may come. Although they do have health insurance, this unusual pregnancy has drastically raised the costs that must come out of their family’s own pockets. And because the pregnancy has been so difficult, as they near the time for Lily’s birth (any day now) Derek has taken personal time off work for an extended period to be there for Abby and his family. During this time he will only make about half his normal pay. I am asking everyone for two things: First- please stop and pray for this wonderful family, who are navigating this difficult time with faith and trust in God. Pray with us for a miracle for Lily and strength and wisdom for Derek and Abby. Second- please consider donating to help them with the extra expenses, which may amount to as much as $12,000.
