Proud new parents Makayla and Tyler were thrilled to announce the birth of their perfect baby boy, Koen, on May 23, 2023. They brought their healthy baby home on May 25, but days later, Koen spiked a temperature. Makayla and Tyler took their 9-day-old baby back to the hospital, and he was admitted to the NICU. Since then, baby Koen's medical team has been searching for answers.

Koen has been hospitalized since June 1. His liver enzymes have been elevated and they are still searching for the cause. Baby Koen was life-flighted to Omaha's Children's Hospital on Wednesday, June 7. He will be undergoing multiple tests as well as a 21-day IV treatment through a PICC line. Under the current plan, baby Koen will be hospitalized for three to four weeks.

Funds raised here will help baby Koen's family with these sudden, unexpected expenses, both medical and non-medical (meals while away from home, travel, lodging, missed work, etc.). We hope to help alleviate some of the financial stress, so Makayla and Tyler can focus their energy on loving their new baby boy. Any amount will help.
