Meet baby Kobe, an 11-week-old golden retriever puppy with the sweetest, gentlest spirit. From the moment he came home, he has brought nothing but joy, love, and laughter to his family. Sadly, his start to life has been anything but easy.
Not long after joining his forever home, Kobe began battling severe stomach issues and was diagnosed with coccidia, a tough intestinal parasite. While his family worked closely with their vet to get him better, his condition suddenly took a serious turn.
Yesterday, Kobe was rushed in for emergency surgery after developing a rectal prolapse. Once in surgery, the team discovered the case was far more complicated than expected and had to transfer him to a specialty hospital to finish the procedure. There, surgeons found several small tears in his colon and had to remove a vital portion responsible for absorbing vitamins and nutrients. Because Kobe is still a growing puppy, this means he will need syringe-fed vitamins for the next few months to ensure his body gets what it needs to grow strong and healthy. What began as a fairly common surgery quickly turned into a complex and high-stakes operation.
Kobe is now stable and the vets remain positively optimistic about his recovery. As of now, there are no expected long-term effects from the surgery. However, although his family’s primary concern is his health and getting him every bit of care he needs, the financial toll has become overwhelming. His medical bills are climbing and the cost will be significant moving forward as he remains in the ICU, not even accounting for the cost of upcoming post-op visits and ongoing care.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Kobe’s care and recovery. Even sharing this fundraiser can help lift some of the weight from his family’s shoulders so they can focus entirely on helping their sweet boy heal.
