Help Baby Khadijah Fight Stage 4 Cancer
Khadijah is a sweet and vibrant 1-year-3-month-old baby girl from Lusaka, Zambia. She has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 malignant sacrococcygeal germ cell tumor (yolk sac tumor) — a very rare and aggressive childhood cancer. This devastating diagnosis has turned her family’s world upside down as they face the long and difficult journey towards her treatment. As the resources for her treatment are not available in her home country of Zambia, they have taken her to a specialist clinic in India in an effort to do all that they can to save her.
The onset of the cancer has been so sudden and aggressive that little Khadijah will need to begin intensive chemotherapy as soon as possible, as each day without treatment brings further complications and pain and hardship for her. The tumour has grown with such intensity that it is only once the chemotherapy has reduced it, will she be able to have the necessary major surgery to remove it and restore her to good health.
Khadijah’s journey to recovery will be long and incredibly challenging. Her parents are doing everything they can to fight for her life, the emotional and financial toll is overwhelming.
