Help Baby Keenan Recover: Support the Hernandez Family
Baby Keenan Hernandez was born prematurely on October 6th at Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon, weighing just 5 lbs 10 oz. Due to his small size, doctors had to wait until he grew stronger before performing life-saving heart surgery.
In the meantime, Keenan faced significant challenges. His tiny heart was working so hard to keep him oxygenated that he often struggled to stay awake long enough to eat. To help him grow, he required a nasogastric (NG) feeding tube. His hospital stay was further complicated by a respiratory infection, delaying his surgery and adding to his family's worries.
On November 5th, Keenan finally underwent surgery. Thanks to the skilled hands of Dr. Iguidbashian and the dedicated medical team, Keenan received a complex cardiothoracic repair, including the closure of multiple heart defects. His recovery has been anything but easy; he endured an IJ central line, arterial lines, pleural drains, chest tubes, pacer wires, and a wound vac during his stay in the NICU.
Now, Keenan is home, but his journey is far from over. His immune system is still developing, and his parents, Kayla and Ron, must take extraordinary precautions to protect him. Even a minor illness could threaten his healing process. Despite these challenges, Keenan is gaining weight and growing stronger every day.
Kayla and Ron have devoted themselves to caring for their son, spending countless hours in the hospital and now adjusting to life at home with his specialized needs. The financial burden of Keenan's medical care is immense, and they need our support.
Your donations will help cover Keenan's medical expenses and provide much-needed relief for his family during this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
Please join us in supporting Kayla, Ron, and baby Keenan as they navigate this journey. Together, we can help give Keenan the best chance at a healthy, happy future.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
