Help Baby Kara as She Faces Heart Surgery

Hi everyone,

David and Dawn here, and we are reaching out during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Our baby girl, Kara, is just 5 months old, and she is already facing a battle no newborn should ever have to face. Kara needs heart surgery to correct two holes between the heart's lower chambers. (a minor case of Tetralogy of Fallot) As her parents, we are doing everything we can to stay strong — but the emotional and financial weight is frightful.

Even at only 5 months old, Kara has shown a strength and sweetness that inspires everyone around her. She is a bright-eyed, gentle little fighter who loves to be held, smile at familiar faces, and listen to soft voices. She doesn’t understand what’s happening, yet she faces every doctor visit, test, and monitor with a calm spirit that amazes us.

Her surgery is scheduled for December 19th, and while we have faith in God and in her medical team, the fear and uncertainty are constant. Her recovery will require time, follow-up visits, and ongoing care.
