Help Baby Kahlia Fight Whooping Cough
Hi, my name is Allysia, and I’m starting this fundraiser to support my sister and her family during a heartbreaking medical emergency.
Just a few weeks ago, her 3-week-old baby girl Kahlia started having trouble breathing and appeared very sick. My sister took her to the hospital twice, but both times she was told Kahlia was fine and was sent home. Despite being dismissed, she knew something was wrong.
Not even a day later, Kahlia stopped breathing and turned blue. My sister called 911, and they were rushed to the ER by ambulance. Once there, baby Kahlia stopped breathing again and had to be placed on oxygen, and eventually on a ventilator to stay alive.
Doctors ran tests, including bloodwork and a spinal tap, and finally discovered the cause: a severe and life-threatening case of whooping cough — something that could have been caught earlier but was unfortunately overlooked by the first hospital.
Now, Kahlia is fighting for her life in the hospital, surrounded by her parents and grandmother, who have all had to take time off work to be by her side. They also have a 6-year-old child at home, currently being cared for by a family member.
As you can imagine, the emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming. Between missed work, childcare, food, and mounting hospital bills (many not covered by insurance), the family is struggling to stay afloat.
We’re asking for help from our friends, family, and community to ease their financial burden so they can focus fully on Kahlia’s recovery.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
If you’re unable to give at this time, please consider sharing this page to help us spread the word. Your support means more than words can express.
Lastly, a message to all parents: If your gut tells you something’s wrong with your child, don’t stop fighting. My sister’s persistence saved her baby’s life.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support. Let’s help baby Kahlia get through this.
With love and gratitude,
Allysia
