Please help me in supporting the Leone family as they have recently been faced with the unthinkable.
On Monday 9/8/25 Josephine became sick with a fever and a stomach bug. She rapidly began to decline and had a seizure that evening. She was brought into the ED and had several seizures within the few hours she was there. It was determined to be febrile seizures and she was admitted to Golisano Children’s Hospital for monitoring, but the doctors were hopeful it was a one time thing. She had 3 doses of rescue seizure medications in the ED and was expected to be pretty sedated for a while. She was monitored for a couple of days but was still stiffening her body and making unusual eye movements.
On Thursday, 9/11/25, her heart rate began dropping. A CT and MRI scan were done to determine the cause of the unusual symptoms and she was moved to the PICU. Taylor and Jesse recieved news that no parent ever wants to hear. She has a brain bleed and Acute Necrotizing Encephalitis(ANE)- a rare, life threatening neurological disease.
There are a few possible outcomes- either she does not make it, or she pulls through but has mild or severe lifelong neurological issues. They are faced with making decisions that no parent should ever have to make. Consenting to life saving, but potentially dangerous procedures for their 11 month old baby girl. She is being followed by every doctor possible- neurology, genetics, and experts in this disease from across the country. They hope to have more answers soon about what caused this and it might change the course of treatment.
Day 1 of treatment is going as planned, but she is far from being in the clear. The first 72 hours are crucial and she is being monitored and cared for 24/7.
Until then, they are putting their full faith into the doctors and praying for a miracle. I'm asking if you could please join me in helping the Leone family with the medical bills they are going to be faced with, while also taking care of monthly bills and such back at home. I'm hoping to raise funds to help them as they stay by Josephines side every minute of the day and not have to be faced with financial burdens.
Anyone who has met Josephine knows the pure joy and sunshine that radiates from her. She is the strongest, happiest little girl.
