In a single day, our lives changed. What started as a morning of a routine appointment turned into a week of fear, uncertainty, emergency intervention.
We quickly had to travel to Pittsburgh for an extended stay at UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital, where preeclampsia with severe features led to an emergency c-section just a few short days later, and at 31 weeks, our son Jasper was born.
Jasper is now receiving care in the NICU. He’ll need to remain there for many weeks as he grows stronger and works through his difficult start to life.
The sudden medical emergency for mama, and subsequent surgery, recovery, and NICU stay for Jasper have placed a heavy emotional and financial strain on us as a family. Between the travel, gas, food, medical needs, and time away from work—not to mention preparing a nursery far earlier than planned—we are falling behind while trying to keep up.
If you’re able, any support you can give will help us stay focused on bringing Jasper home, catching up on unexpected expenses, gather the necessary nursery supplies, and will ease the stress and fear during this incredibly uncertain time.
From all members of this growing family, we thank you for your kindness, love, and support.
