Hallo everyone,
Thank you for taking your time and reading about our son Jameson’s story.
My husband and I are trying to raise funds for our baby boy who needs a cranial helmet. We noticed that his head was not shaping the way it should and he couldn’t turn his head to the right and he wouldn’t use his right arm very often. It ended up that he was born with torticollis, meaning that the muscles on the right side of his body were really tight making it hard for him to use them. At only two months old he had to start physical therapy with hopes this would resolve the issue, it did help him start to use his right arm. However it was unsuccessful in helping to stop the flat spot that was developing.
Additionally he also has craniosynostosis which means that the joints between the bones and the skull are starting to fuse prematurely and doesn’t allow his head to grow as it should.
The back of his head is narrow, where the sides and the front of his head is getting pushed out. Jameson is already starting to show signs of facial and ear shifts. His pediatrician told us yesterday that since physical therapy isn’t working he’ll most likely need to wear a helmet for 23 hours a day for the next year. Otherwise he would have to undergo a very painful surgery to straighten his skull out, which we want to avoid at all costs. If he doesn’t receive the hemet ASAP he’ll have greater misaligned facial features as well as the possibility of a misaligned jar, which can cause issues with eating and speaking. Additionally it could implement his brain development and cause Issues with his brain functions.
Sadly Tricare(or insurance company) does not see the necessity of covering this medical device or any of the appointments unless he undergoes the surgery, and it doesn’t resolve the issue. Due to Covid pandemic we are living on my husbands income, which is already rather tight.
Being part of the Air Force, and reallocating back to the US drained all of our savings. Due to the time sensitivity we are not capable of coming up with the funds necessary to pay for the helmet out of pocket.
You guys don’t know how difficult it is to shareall of this on a public forum and open a Go fund me, but I have to try everything that can help my baby boy.
THANK YOU for reading all of this and any donation no matter how small would be greatly appreciated!
