Help Baby Isabella Fight Deadly MRSA Infection

Hi I’m Cassie and my dear friends The Cruz Family is very much in need of your help.

Diego and Jessica’s 7 month old daughter fell ill last Friday 10/4. What was thought to be typical baby teething as turned into a parents worst nightmare.

Saturday morning they took Isabella to the Children’s hospital as her fever would not break. She was admitted and remained there for 3 days undergoing every test imaginable to figure out what is causing her fever. It wasn’t until a spinal draw did they find bacteria. She soon after started having a sudden facial tic. Things seemed to be getting worse and not better even while

on IV antibiotics.

Monday Isabella went under another MRI and CT scan to find where in the bones and body this infection is located. They weren’t expecting results until today however last night they were told this beautiful baby has Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA. This is a deadly infection with a 20-50% survival rate. The family was rushed to Children’s Minneapolis where they have more pediatric specialists than St. Paul. She is in the NICU.

Since Isabella has been intubated and placed in a medically induced coma. With all the hopes and prayers that they will heal her tiny little body from this deadly disease. She had emergency surgery today to put a drain tube in her neck after they surgically removed much of the infection from her throat.

Baby Isabella is very sick. Her mom has not left her side. Dad had to work yesterday and is currently only working PT, so he too is spending every minute he can there with her.

This family has become apart of mine. They have no one here in the states except each other and me. I’m helping in every way I can but I need help to help them please. It will be weeks before she is healthy enough to go home and even then many more doctor’s appointments to follow. The Cruz family has no medical insurance and has living expenses to pay.
