Our precious newborn daughter, Hiba Noor, is in a race against time. She has been diagnosed with Truncus Arteriosus Type I, an extremely rare and fatal congenital heart defect. Instead of two normal arteries, Hiba’s tiny heart has just one malformed vessel, along with a large ventricular septal defect (VSD) and severe pulmonary hypertension.
Without immediate surgery, Hiba faces:
- Heart failure within weeks – Her overworked heart must pump 3–4 times harder than normal, leading to rapid exhaustion
- Permanent lung damage – Abnormal blood flow is flooding her lungs, risking irreversible stiffening (Eisenmenger syndrome)
- Severe oxygen deprivation – Her body receives only 60–70% of normal oxygen levels, stunting growth and brain development
- Stroke risk – Thickened blood increases the danger of life-threatening clots
- A life expectancy of just months – 90% of babies with this condition don't survive their first year without treatment
We’ve searched desperately across Pakistan, from Mardan to Peshawar to Lahore. for help. Finally, AFIC Hospital in Islamabad has agreed to perform the life-saving surgery, but it must happen within the next 6–8 weeks for the best chance of survival.
The Financial Reality:
The total cost is PKR 4.5 million (approx. $13,000 USD), far beyond what Usman and his family can afford. Just last year, before Hiba was born, Usman’s father fell seriously ill with a platelet disorder, and his mother was also struggling with chronic stomach issues. As the only son, Usman used all his savings on their medical care. Now, with baby Hiba’s life at stake, he has nothing left to give, and no access to health insurance or institutional support in Pakistan.
