Help baby Felix outshine cancer #TeamFelix

Hello everyone, Stephanie and Felix here, we are humbly asking for help in our new journey with our son baby Felix. He is going through some tough times being that he is 16 months old and recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Cancer). Our son is an intelligent, joyful, restless energetic boy, soon to be big brother. He never showed signs of being physically sick. It was until his physical that the Dr. told us he was Anemic and gave us medication for 30 days. No changes were seen he was still pale but his energy level never lowered. On June 25th we made an appointment with Dr. requested blood work he was drawn at 11am. The Dr. called us at 2:40pm that day requesting more blood work and urine samples to be tested right away. We left the samples and nurses said we’d hear from MD the following Monday. You can just imagine the anxiety when at 5 pm the Dr. calls us. He said they see something in his labs but couldn’t give us a clear answer as he was going to need further testing and that we’d be flown to Driscoll Children’s Hospital AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. For one reason or another we ended up taking an ambulance instead from Doctors Hospital in Laredo to Corpus Christi. We arrived at midnight and had blood work drawn again for testing. June 26th early in the morning Dr. pulled us to a conference room so he can tell us exactly what was going on with our baby boy. It was explained to us that it was way more than what we thought, initially anemia, and that it was indeed Leukemia. As soon as we heard those words come out of his mouth, we were devastated. We felt helpless as he informed us of what our son would endure. We can’t take his pain away and as parents you never imagine in a million years that your child would have cancer. Our lives have changed since we got that call at 5pm in Laredo. We have been speaking to so many different Dr.s signing so much paperwork. June 27th baby Felix had different procedures. He had to get a port to access medication straight to his heart, they checked his bone marrow to see the percentage of Leukemia on his body and lumbar spine to see if it had gotten to his spine/brain. Baby Felix is going through Chemo at his tender age and is far from home. We left Laredo with the clothes on our backs. We are looking to transfer care to San Antonio but his Cancer cell count numbers aren’t low enough. We are staying in a hotel nearby so we can be close to the hospital. Baby Felix’s chemo contains radiation and has been difficult for him as he is soon to be a big brother. We are expecting and she will be here in November God willing. Baby Felix can’t be so close to mommy due to his radiation and her pregnancy. We are trying our best to stay positive but the emotional and financial burden has been rough. We both can’t work due to the delicate situation. It took our loved ones to start a go fund me and would appreciate our Laredo community’s help and unity. Anything helps even if just a prayer. Thank you in advance.
