A Little Fighter's Journey: Help Baby Evie and Her Family

On September 5, 2025, a day meant for joy turned into a fight for survival. At just 28 weeks, Baby Evie was born, a tiny, precious miracle weighing only 2 lbs, 1.15 oz. Her early arrival was a direct result of her mother, Trinity, being rushed to the hospital with severe preeclampsia, a life-threatening condition that left her with liver and kidney failure.

While Trinity lay fighting for her life, a new battle began for Evie. She was born with a serious heart condition called coarctation of the aorta, and her tiny heart is struggling to keep up. She is currently on a CPAP to help her breathe, and she will need several blood transfusions to hold her over until she is big enough and strong enough for the open-heart surgery that will save her life. For now, her world is a sterile room in the NICU, filled with the beeps and hums of machines that are keeping her alive. We anticipate she'll remain there until at least after Thanksgiving, spending her first months of life connected to vital equipment.

This family is navigating a perfect storm of medical crises and financial hardship. Trinity, still recovering from her own medical emergency, has been in and out of the hospital herself. Her vision has been affected, leaving her unable to drive or work. Meanwhile, her husband, Daniel, has had to miss work to be by her and Evie's side, leading to a devastating loss of income.

The family has also recently taken in Trinity's teenage sister, who was kicked out of her home. Trinity is now the legal guardian for a high school junior, adding a new layer of responsibility and expense to an already impossible situation.
