I am reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits on behalf of someone dear to my heart. A brave mother and her sweet baby boy, Ethan, the youngest of six children who is now facing unimaginable medical challenges due to a birth injury.

Ethan’s Story

Ethan entered this world fighting. During delivery, he experienced a loss of oxygen which resulted in a serious brain injury known as Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE).

What is HIE?

HIE is a type of brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation. It impacts motor skills, hearing, and other critical developmental functions. Early and intensive therapy is often the key to making meaningful progress — and time is of the essence.

As a result of this trauma, Ethan is currently unable to sit, crawl, or walk without assistance, and he is also partially deaf. Despite the incredible love and care of his mother, Ethan needs urgent medical intervention to have a fighting chance at achieving basic developmental milestones.

But despite these challenges, Ethan is full of life, and we are determined to give him every opportunity to thrive.

Why This Matters Now

There is a renowned therapy program in another state that offers the specialized treatment Ethan needs. The doctor leading this program is known for helping children with HIE make extraordinary progress, but sadly, she does not accept any form of medical insurance.

Therapy Cost: $8,000

Travel & Hotel Accommodations: Additional funds needed for transportation and extended stay

Time Off Work: Ethan’s mother, who recently returned to work, must take unpaid leave to travel with him
