Help Baby Emma Fight for Her Life

Hello, my name is Ariana Moreira, and I am going through the most challenging pregnancy of my life. My baby Emma is on her way with a complex heart condition that requires continuous medical monitoring and possible interventions as soon as she is born.

Emma has been diagnosed with Heterotaxy and a single-ventricle heart.

This means that:

• Her little heart beats on the right side instead of the left.

• She only has one ventricle instead of the two that are needed, which causes oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood to mix, leading to a lack of oxygen throughout her body.

• Her arteries, which are normally crossed in an X-shape, are vertically aligned, making it harder for blood to flow properly to the lungs.

• One of her vena cavas is not fully developed.

Although science has advanced greatly, there are still many things that cannot be detected until after she is born. Every day is filled with uncertainty, holding onto faith and hope as we wait for the next steps her doctors will need to take.

From the moment she enters the world, Emma will need tests, surgeries, hospitalizations, and possibly lifelong treatments. The medical team is already preparing everything to receive her in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and provide the best care possible from her very first moments of life.

My health insurance does not cover all expenses, and costs are rising every day: consultations, studies, hospital stays, and, in the near future, heart surgeries that will be vital for Emma’s survival.

I am fighting with all my strength to give my daughter the best chance at life, but I cannot do it alone. Your donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference in Emma’s life. Ayudemos a la pequeña Emma a luchar por su vida

Hola, mi nombre es Ariana Moreira y estoy viviendo el embarazo más desafiante de mi vida. Mi bebé Emma viene en camino con un diagnóstico complejo en su corazón que requiere seguimiento médico continuo e intervenciones desde el momento en que nazca.

A Emma le han diagnosticado Heterotaxia y corazón univentricular.

Esto significa que:

• Su corazoncito late hacia el lado derecho en lugar de estar ubicado a la izquierda.

• Solo tiene un ventrículo en lugar de los dos necesarios, lo que hace que la sangre con y sin oxígeno se mezcle, causando falta de oxigenación en su cuerpo.

• Sus arterias, que normalmente deberían cruzarse en forma de X, están alineadas de manera vertical, dificultando el flujo de sangre hacia los pulmones.

• Una de sus venas cavas no está completamente desarrollada.

Aunque la ciencia ha avanzado mucho, todavía hay detalles que no se pueden detectar hasta después de su nacimiento. Cada día es una incertidumbre, esperando con fe y esperanza los próximos pasos que sus médicos deberán tomar.

Desde que llegue al mundo, Emma necesitará exámenes, cirugías, hospitalizaciones y posiblemente tratamientos de por vida. El equipo médico ya está preparando todo para recibirla en la NICU (unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales) y darle la mejor atención posible desde el primer minuto de vida.

Mi seguro médico no cubre todos los gastos, y los costos se elevan día a día, consultas, estudios, hospitalización y, en un futuro cercano, cirugías de corazón que son vitales para que Emma pueda vivir.

Estoy luchando con todas mis fuerzas para darle a mi hija la mejor oportunidad de vida, pero no puedo hacerlo sola.
